Mass Site Updates in progess

Due to circumstances beyond my control, time has not permitted me to keep the site updated as I would have liked, BUT.... as of this week, I'm making it a priority. The station has never ceased to be fresh in it's 6 year history, but this website is a different story. We've dropped literally all of our "live"shows and DJ's are non-existant right now. But that will change as the year progresses. Here are some changes on their way in the next few months...
  1. We're looking for "Gospel Expressions in the Form of Rhythm & Poetry" to return with a brand new twist and a brand new name.
  2. Preaching/teaching coming back to Sunday mornings at 11:00am
  3. Philly Sounds will return with no DJ.... just music played the entire hour from artists from my neck of the woods (Philly, NJ, Delaware)
  4. Do you like gospel instrumentals and smooth gospel? Well that show will return with no host as well.... just the music.
  5. New show coming this summer is that of a few hours a week of Kids Gospel.
  6. Newsletter will commence publishing soon which will inculde your comments on the station so if you haven't recently, visit the stations L365 page , scroll down and post your comments.

In the mean time, keep us in your prayers and keep the music comin! Also feel free to post your comments to our posts.

We Need To Check Our Affections

As I read a devotional today that focused on Colosians 3:2 (2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.) what immediately came to mind is the current wave of secular artists doing "gospel albums". The press releases trump the secular artists as "getting back to his/her gospel roots". But where are thier affection set. Cetainly not on God, because I don't ever recall any of them mentioning that this was something God desired, but something they'd thought about, or wanted to do for some time. They never mention that they will abandon the affections of the world to set their affections on God. Doing a "gospel album" is just something else to do. Their affections remain set on the secular world.

The devotional said Separating yourself from the ways of the world doesn't always mean just leaving destructive activities behind. It often means simply getting rid of those things that don't build you up spiritually.
The R&B artists, the rap artists, the jazz artists, all doing "gospel on the side". Their affections have not changed. Verse 17 of the same chapter says

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Wouldn't word or deed include song. How can the R&B, The Hip-Hop be done in the name of the Lord Jesus when it promotes sin?

Upcoming Projects With Great Purpose! Thanx Martha & Cece

While reviewing today a few new projects on their way out, two projects caught my attention. Martha Munizzi is releasing "Change The World" and Cece Winans "Thy Kingdom Come". Both project got my attention because they both had "kingdom purpose" and not "self exaltation" as the focus. So many one-sheets we get have a full page on the accolades of the artist (stellars, grammy's and whatever recognition man has given them) and how their history, their style, their genius, their musical prowess should make me expose my ears and that of my audience to their music! No mention of God. No mention of kingdom. No mention of purpose. I don't even listen to those! Gospel music should be about the purposes of God, otherwise, why are you singing gospel? I am so sick of music about my blessing, my breakthrough, my miracle, my struggle! What about God?
Well the purpose of Martha Munizzi's fifth project is to make a difference in the world by partnering with several humanitarian orgranizations the are helping social injustice in the world. She says that the bigness of God, the power of God is something the world needs to know about and that's her message on this Praise & Worship album which brings hope to hurting people.
Now Cece Winans will be releasing here 8th solo project entitled 'Thy Kingdom Come" also on April 1,2008. Her purpose in recording this project is the encourage the body of Christ that we cannot be moved by what we see but rather what we know about God and who He is. Prayer, Praise & Worship are our greatest weapons and she wants this music to encourage you to stay the course!
Pick up both projects on April 1, 2008!

Vicki Mack is Back!

Oooo... talked with Vicki Mack-Latiallade today! Yup, in the flesh about her new label and single from Carnell Murrell. What a breath of fresh air! An artist we haven't heard from in a while and it's wonderful! If this promo single is any indication of what's to come from this project. Knowing Vicki Mack's track record I cannot wait to see what the other 25 tracks will be. The promo single was the delievered and promoted just as it should be done. Got a call to be on the lookout for the project. The project arrived perfectly packaged complete with accompanied sing-a-long track and lyrics! Then we recieve a call confirming that we recieved it and inquiring about it's status from none other than Vicki Mack herself!! Now that's passion for this music. Looking forward to what God will do through Lilly Mack!

The Star Factor in Gospel Music?

Just tuned into my local "Radio One" gospel station to hear a promotion on this BIG workshop coming to our area. The "selling" point is that "You could become the next big gospel STAR". What in the world is that about? It just shows how "off" the body of Christ when it comes to the gospel. One thing for I'm sure of, God is not looking for us to become "gospel stars". That's promotion of the flesh only and definitely not the kingdom of God. But we are falling for it --- hook, line, and sinker. Looking to be "starfied" by man. Trust me, the event will be packed, crawling with people looking to get a "break". Donald Lawrence and Kirk Franklin will be amongst the "scouts" that weekend, looking to make the next "gospel star"! Wow --- it sounds and is so vain and unlike anything Jesus would promote. Why would we?

Steve Harvey. The Celebration of GOSPEL. Something is wrong with this picture.

Do we as the gospel community, those that cling to the gospel of our Lord Jesus, have no other talented hosts to choose from to celebrate gospel? Before you go off the deep end and say how "Christian" Steve Harvey is, know that I am not judging his Christianity (i don't use that word anymore to refer to true followers of Christ). That's between him and God for sure. Just our inability to choose from those that promote Kingdom in their vocation to those that promote secularism and sin in theirs to HOST our celebrations of music that celebrates our God.
